About this event

Advancements & Ethics in AI Communication

Artificial intelligence continues to reshape how we communicate, and with each new advancement comes the need for thoughtful leadership and sound strategic counsel. Join Cayce Myers, Ph.D., LL.M., J.D., APR, professor of public relations and director of graduate studies at Virginia Tech’s School of Communication, for an exclusive PRSA Oregon webinar exploring the latest developments in AI and their implications for communicators.

Among the topics Dr. Myers will cover is “Promise & Pitfalls: The Ethical Use of AI, Version 2.0” — PRSA’s expanded national guidance developed by the Board of Ethics and Professional Standards, on which he serves as a member. This updated framework offers a roadmap for transparent, responsible, and ethical AI adoption, featuring:

New transparency protocols for AI-generated communication

Governance and training guidance to strengthen organizational oversight

Legal and regulatory insights on emerging AI policies

Actionable how-tos and FAQs for applying AI ethically in daily work

Dr. Myers will also share his observations on how AI has evolved since his previous PRSA Oregon presentation in June 2025.

A respected author and researcher, Dr. Meyers has written eight books and dozens of scholarly and professional publications exploring PR strategy, history, and legal issues. His most recent book, “Artificial Intelligence and Law in the Communication Professions” (June 2025), examines how emerging laws and regulations are defining AI’s role across public relations, journalism and advertising.

He currently serves on the PRSA National Board of Directors and Board of Ethics and Professional Standards, and has held prior leadership roles on the Universal Accreditation Board and the PRSA Foundation Board. He is also Legal Research Editor for the Institute for Public Relations and a member of the Commission on Public Relations Education.

When he is not teaching, writing or advising, Dr. Myers frequently offers expert commentary on public relations, political campaigns, and legal issues in national outlets such as Time, Bloomberg, Fox News, The Los Angeles Times, The Hill, The Associated Press and The Wall Street Journal.

Stay informed and inspired as Dr. Myers brings us up to speed on the latest in AI and helps communication professionals lead with integrity in a rapidly changing landscape.
